Cross Rhythms is Take It Away Dance's annual evening concert of new tap and music works. This year's concert is all about the sound - that kind of sound that can only be delivered through pitch-perfect movement, in that space between melody and silence. We dance and play across four different kinds of grooves: straight-ahead jazz and blues, contemporary music, samba, and funk/hip hop/R&B.

Run time: 70 minutes, no intermission.

$15/advance $20/door. For advance tickets:

Choreography by Pamela Hetherington. Guest choreographers: stb x at and Max Pollak for The Philadelphia Community Tap Project.

Accompaniment by the Adam Faulk Trio (Adam Faulk: piano, Nimrod Speaks: bass and Khary Shaheed: drums). Original music for tap dance by Adam Faulk and Pamela Hetherington; music direction by Pamela Hetherington.

Take It Away Dance: Rosie Marinelli, Sarah Mason, Lauren O'Shea and Robin Passmore.

The Philadelphia Community Tap Project: Alyssa Barlis, Danielle Desimone, Lee-Ann Doncevic, Judy Freed, Sara Graybeal, Roberta Halpern, Lindsey Hamilton, Donna Heffner. Christina Krawiec, Kathy Moore, Melissa Palmer, Dawn Pratson, Cathy Rubin.

Take It Away Dance highlights the connection between tap dance and music. It is fueled by the power of collaboration and our work layers percussive rhythms, live music, vocals and other interdisciplinary forms. We contribute to the sound of Philadelphia. Take It Away Dance has been presented by Small Stakes Philly, The Philadelphia Jazz Project, Jazz Bridge, The Lehigh Valley Dance Exchange and the Music Series at the Reading Terminal Market.

Cross Rhythms is supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
