Lauren O'Shea is a dancer and dance educator based in Philadelphia. She grew up dancing in Metuchen, New Jersey and is a graduate of Rowan University. She is a principal dancer and has performed with Take It Away Dance since 2015.
Alec started dancing at Bainbridge Dance Center in Bainbridge Island, Washington. In 2013, he graduated from University of the Arts with a BFA in Modern Dance Performance. He has worked with Men in Dance in Seattle, Sketch Club Players in Woodbury, New Jersey and Allegory Dance Theatre in Philadelphia. Alec also studied at The Rock School, Dance Freemont, and Cornish College of the Arts. He is a principal dancer and joined Take It Away Dance in 2019.
Erica Corbo is a professional musician and performance artist native to the Philadelphia area. Implementing her talents mainly on the piano, she also performs as a flutist, vocalist, and dancer. Her work spans the disciplines of jazz, free improv, and original music. Believing in music as a universal language, Erica approaches her playing from a strong melodic standpoint, while leaving room for experimentation with dissonance and atonality. Extensive knowledge of the Alexander Technique empowers her playing with a physical balance and grace.
Paul Giess is a versatile trumpet player, composer, and educator based in Philadelphia, PA. Paul is currently employed by the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz serving as an Education Consultant to Artistic Director Lovett Hines. He is currently active in multiple ensembles in the Philadelphia area including Outside Sound, Bitters and Rye Jazz Band, The Abstract Truth, Erik Kramer and Friends, Dr. B's Groove, The Boheme Big Band and The Philadelphia Jazz Project. He also leads his own ensemble, The Paul Giess Group
Jenny is a freelance jazz singer, tap dancer, composer, and director. Improvisation is essential to who I am and what I do. The belief that boundaries are manmade--and therefore not inevitable--informs everything that she. She holds a Masters from the Contemporary Improvisation Department at New England Conservatory and has performed with Take It Away Dance since 2017.
Bassist Nicholas Krolak is a young veteran of the Philadelphia jazz scene. He has spent the last decade working as a side-man, experiencing new styles, and studying with the masters. Now, he has taken all he has learned and is applying it to his own group. Tracing the lineage of bebop into the contemporary, his compositions celebrate the city and honor nature. He has played for Take It Away Dance since 2014.
Kristin Potocki is a senior at Rowan University and a tap dance instructor in Northern New Jersey. She joined Take It Away Dance in 2019.
